If, as astrologers have always thought,
Man’s psychic state’s reflected in the stars,
And if, as Israel’s prophets clearly taught,
Collective deeds control his "fate" – not Mars
Nor God Himself (who orders us to choose
Between the good and evil in our souls;
Thus giving us the power to keep or lose
The world: to save her forests or melt her poles),
This dreaded day, when Sun and Earth align
With the black hole which is the very core
Of our deep galaxy, may be a sign
The final chance has come to heed that law.
Unless we opt for light instead of dark,
I fear this date the tipping point will mark.
